Phil 4:6-7
6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer
and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Peace. There is not a substance on this planet that can bring about peace like the peace that comes from God.
It is without side effects or hangovers and never makes your butt look big.

God comes and takes away the panic and our response to the anxiety can be His response: peace.

Our prayers do not have to be long winded or Shakespearian. But, they do need to be heartfelt, real, and honest.

They may be one word: help!

God is not looking for a performance from you, He is looking for a relationship with you.

Talk to Him like you would a friend who is sitting there next to you. A friend you trust, a friend who you know loves you and is safe.

He is.

  1. Thanks for this timely reminder Sue! Love to you & all your P&C Nights!!

  2. Thank you so much, Sue, for this reminder! It brought to mind something that happened with my Lindsey (now 9) about a year ago. We were going through a particularly difficult season with her. She battles anxieties and during the school year last year they peaked to an almost unbearable place. I made it a point to lay down with her at night, sing praise songs, pray scripture, etc. One night, I asked her if she wanted to say her prayers like we always did. She said yes. Then in the darkness, there was a very long pause. Then I heard her voice say, "Momma, sometimes when I don't know what to say to God, I just say 'Help me, Amen.'"

Whew! That ministered to me and still does today.

    Have a blessed day!

  5. This is my verse of the week. I'm trying so hard to remember it in my "anxious" times, which seem to be more often than not lately.

  6. Angie Gutierrez says:

Thank you for sharing this verse…it goes hand in hand with the scripture I was reading this morning: " So do not worry and say, "What are we to eat?" or "What are we to drink?" or "What are we to wear?". Your Father in heaven knows that you need all these things." (Matthew 6:31-32) I agree with Cheryl…this too, shall be my verse for the week……I, like Cheryl am anxious more times than I care to admit, and I find that it is a constant battle not to let it overcome me. I am going to repeat this verse each time I feel like I am giving in to despair. Thank you, Thank you for sharing and reminding me…..God is GREAT.
