After the last post, I am overwhelmed by the trials you have endured and the faith You have in our Lord. Some of your comments and emails bring me to tears. You are truly living this!! There’s nothing shallow about you. You’ve been through REAL pain and now are able to testify of the Lord’s goodness. I am so blessed by your candidness. Thank you for sharing your stories from the heart!!!
I am going to be highlighting some of the wonderful testimonies of faith in God’s Word. I don’t think we will ever tire of having our faith encouraged will we?
Here is a condensed version of the story that most of us are familiar with, feel free to read it in it’s entirety if you like:
Daniel 6:6-7 The royal administrators, prefects, satraps, advisers and governors have all agreed that the king should issue an edict and enforce the decree that anyone who prays to any god or man during the next thirty days, except to you, O king, shall be thrown into the lions’ den. NIV Dan 6:10-11 Now when Daniel learned that the decree had been published, he went home to his upstairs room where the windows opened toward Jerusalem. Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before. NIV Dan 6:16 So the king gave the order, and they brought Daniel and threw him into the lions’ den. The king said to Daniel, “May your God, whom you serve continually, rescue you!” NIV Dan 6:19-22 At the first light of dawn, the king got up and hurried to the lions’ den. 20 When he came near the den, he called to Daniel in an anguished voice, “Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to rescue you from the lions?” 21 Daniel answered, “O king, live forever! 22 My God sent his angel, and he shut the mouths of the lions. They have not hurt me, because I was found innocent in his sight. Nor have I ever done any wrong before you, O king.” NIV
Don’t let the familiarity of this story take away the power of it! Personnally, I am afraid of lions. There have been stories of cougars in our area (yes, Michigan) and it scares me silly! I have had nightmares about lions since I was a little girl. I won’t even go close to the glass at the zoo!
A lion is a fierce animal!
Wouldn’t you have preferred that God said, “Oh I will change that Kings mind and not let him make Daniel go into the lion’s den!”
However, God saw that it would be better for him to experience that trial so that WE could see the power and glory of God!!!!
God sent angels to come and close the mouths of the lions! Isn’t He wonderful?!!!
Can you picture it? How awesome a sight that must have been for Daniel.
We serve an amazing God. He will close the mouths of the lions if need be in our lives! Thank you Lord!!!
1 Peter 5:8-9 Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 9 Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings. NIV
Let’s believe God, whether whatever type of lion’s den we are facing!
